248. Derkje (Derica) KNICKERBOCKER was born on 27 Jan 1783.(1) She was baptized in Schaghticoke, NY.(1) Sponsors Gerrit Winne and Anatje Viele.
She was married to Evert VAN ALLEN on 8 Mar 1801 in Schaghticoke, NY.(1) Evert VAN ALLEN was baptized on 30 Aug 1772 in Kinderhook, Dutchess, NY.(1) He died on 14 Aug 1854 in Defreestville, NY.(1) Son of Abraham E. Van Allen and Mary Fryenmoet. Evert was a famous surveyor and civil engineer, as civil engineering was understood in those days. Howell's History of Albany County, says that he was the surveyor who laid out the most part of the City of Albany. He also did much work for the State and others in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties. They had eleven children, one being the mother of Admiral Van Reypen. Evert was the principal legatee of his uncle and aunt, John E. Van Allen, the Congressman, and Anne Fryenmoet, dau. of Domine Fryenmoet, and is sometimes said to have been adopted by them.
