Pfc. Melvin Thomas Knickerbocker, 20, United States Marine Corps, Son Of Mr, And Mrs. Benjamin L. Knickerbocker, 2008 Chapin, Was Killed In Action In, Korea Nov. 27. A Telegram Reporting His Death Has Been Received From The Defense Department In Washington.
Pfc. Knickerbocker Attended East Intermediate School And Was Graduated From The Jackson Technical School. He Was Employed As A Messenger For The Western Union Following Graduation And His Last Position Was With The Rex Gorrell Gas Station At Pearl And Mechanic Sts.
He Enlisted With The Marines Through The Local Recruiting Station November 10, 1947 On His 17th Birthday.
A Brother Hollis L., Enlisted In The Marines On Nov. 13, This Year, Two Days After His 17th Birthday.
Surviving Also Are A Brother Gale, Rfd 6, Brooklyn, And Two Sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Miller, Of Brooklyn And Elsie At Home.
